Tofino 2016

I was totally enthralled with the ocean and I had no urge to leave Cox Bay. There was plenty to shoot here.
I may have a couple shots of some waves ;-)

Brent tried a shot and it turned out pretty good!

....and in a very stark contrast .... we were back to reality!

Catching up

Happy New Year! 2017

I have been pretty busy with projects and getting ready for the holidays. Not much time for blogging. Today I am going to start the new year rectifying this.

One of my Pinterest projects was to make my own cleaners.

This is the winner thus far! The laundry sink before...pretty embarrassing as we use this sink for cleaning paintbrushes, etc.

Warm 1/2 c of vinegar in microwave for 90 sec. Mix in 1/2 c of dawn dishwashing soap.
It is very important that you take this mixture to the sink first before adding 4 tbsp of baking soda! Or you could find a little mess in your kitchen...

Spread around and let sit for a few hours

Rinse and voila! I need to do this a second time as the sink was pretty bad. This also works really well in the fiberglass shower. Like wowser!

These two recipes I found on Pinterest....

I tried to make my own dishwasher pods, but these were a fail. They did not set up in tablets very well. Worked for the first couple of loads and then didn't. I also believe that it messed up the dishwasher. I had to clean it with those really expensive dishwasher cleaning tablets and then I went back to using the commercial soaps. Much better now. However, I can't throw away what I made and have discovered that if you have a very hard to scrub pot... soak it with some of this and it magically came clean!

The other recipe I tried was for toilet tabs. These are somewhat successful with helping to keep odors at bay....and they look nice sitting in a glass jar in the bathroom too.

All in all it was great fun and very easy to try. Will keep trying and learning as I go.
