Macro Lense
I bought myself a new lense! It is fantastic and boy do I need practice!
Sourdough
I had taken a sourdough class a while back http://freshhealthycooking.com/recipe/sourdough-starter/ and came home with some of her starter. The story was that it was in her family for many years. It is an easy thing to do but takes a long time and I could never figure out when to mix it. Work just got in the way! So when I retired last year I had decided I was going to tackle this and get my groove on. I was worried at that time that I had killed it. I look back on my pics and find that June was when this happened....it turned out awesome....then life got in the way and it was shoved to the back of the fridge once again.
The starter was partially frozen and had black stuff on top. I left it out on the counter overnight and in the morning I scraped all the ugly stuff off, transferred to a clean jar, fed it 1 c of flour (red fife) and 1 c of water. Let it sit on the counter for the day and repeated once more.
I was so happy that this still lived and immediately sent the instructor an email on this progress. She replied that sourdough is very forgiving.
Strawbales 2nd Year
I found a new source for straw...from Salmo. $8/bale delivered! Rob Monty was awesome I ordered 24 bales and when he unloaded he didn't like 4 bales so I got them for free! Woot! He called them "ugly" bales tee hee...so after talking it over with Brent I asked Rob got any more of them "ugly" bales? and what would you sell them for? $5 delivered and he brought me 12 more plus 4 good ones to replace the original order. As he unloaded he discovered a few more "ugly" ones and I took them....sigh...never could pass up a good deal. I ended up with 46 bales in total....OMG!
So things were starting to take shape, I managed to move all the bales and they were in place. Then we decided we better replace the fence as it's looking kinda sad...
We rented a posthole auger from Andex and in 4 hrs we had 25 holes dug! We returned it and came home with the posts.
....sigh....it was looking good...
The gardening begins
April is almost gone and the weather has been crap. Got a phone call from Ft. St. John yesterday and they woke up to snow!
I am being hopeful about the garden this year. I swore I was not going to do any starts as I had lost so many last year. But crazy me I had to do some anyways. Felt good to be playing in soil. So on March 30/31 Yuna and I planted in red solo cups. I thought this way I don't have to transplant too soon. I took some shots tonight and this is after 3 weeks. Looking good!
Not sure when to plant out...not looking great!
