Crossroads Quilt

My latest project is from this designer and these are my notes below.

I am making this as a graduation gift for Dominic and is aptly named as mentioned in the designers blog Crossroads. He too is at a crossroads in life and I wish him every success in his future.

On our travels over the past few months I have been gathering fabrics that Dom likes. Greys, blues, creams, reds, browns, blacks, all colors that boys like! I think I’ve covered them all. Having found the pattern and mulling it around in my head for sometime I played with my fabric choices and decided to get started. It was Tony’s birthday and I figured it was a great day to work on it. I kept asking him what he thought 😍

Once I figured out the design I had to sit down and do some math....I’m not so good with this but if I’m right I need 960 ....yup 960- 2 1/2” squares! And 160- 4 1/2” squares! Luckily I have an accuquilt cutter and it saved me big time! Making a total of 20 squares.

...so now I’m wanting to use leftover squares in the next border...and the plaid is the backing

Update May 23/2020

La Manga and Back to Valencia

Took a drive up this peninsula...reminded us of a Florida type atmosphere. Tall buildings and surrounded by the Mediterranean. Not much else. Didn’t even get out of the car to take pictures...

Finally remembered to take a couple of pics of our hotel

Our room is under the top row of windows ...can’t see the balcony doors....middle window

The harbour

Sunrise this morning 7:45 am

Went for breakfast...packed and had a brief nap...and this happened! Holy Crap Brent...lets get out of here!

More castles...

Some of the scenery

Room wasn’t ready so we went for lunch...only thing we recognized was paella and Iburneo ...and this sign was posted...really?!

Cartegena

Cartegena is a beautiful little city that comes alive at night and the weekends! Can’t even begin to imagine what it would be like when a cruise ship comes in!

Love sitting on a bench near the water soaking in the rays. My only complaint is that the food seems to be all the same...I am looking forward to some home cooked meals...

We hiked up to a castle (not the one pictured above) not far from our hotel and the view was spectacular...and on the way...

...on top of every hill was a castle of some sort..this place was well protected in its time. We also came across several buildings in various stages of neglect in the center of modern life. One street had only the facade ...wonder if there is a plan..hmmm...

Amphitheater

bell thingy that would ding dong every 15 min and on the hour!
