3 Seam Quilt

This is a block that goes by a couple of names. 3 Seam or 10 Minute Block. It's a bit tricky to wrap your head around but once you get it soooo easy!

Here are a couple of utube links for instructions

My first attempt is this baby blanket that turned out so cute. Using 6” squares. A big focus on using up green! I added the yellow after as the center fabric made this way too busy. Looks much better. The quilting was done with templates for the heart and I drew in the lines that unintentionally ended up looking like a star!

I was given a jelly roll and after watching Jean Trueloves utube video I thought this was the perfect time to use it! After sewing 4 strips together I subcut into 8 1/2” squares and then followed the 3 Seam technique. Added a 2” border (red) and then a 5” border (brown).

Measures 60 x 60”

With the leftover pieces I made blocks from the 5 Minute instructions and am using them in the back. There are 7 blocks on the left side. With only 3 left I still wanted to use them and I want to use the white space (bottom right) as my label so I just added some red and brown in between. I'm hoping that any quilting will add to the design.  Backing fabric is Fireside and I picked it up in McBride. It's amazing stuff! It just happens to be 60” wide too...bonus!
