Straw Bale Gardening

This is a new technique that we're trying this year aside from our usual raised beds.

I have been researching like crazy and have joined a couple of Facebook groups on the subject. Joel Karston is said to be a pioneer in this so I've been following him closely. I found another link that has some great info too. Click on the link....I tried to insert the image below, but it's not very clear.

Will start the conditioning by the middle of the month. Can't wait!

"1/2 cup on days 1-3-5 on days 7-8-9 use 1/4 cup then on day 10 use the 10-10-10. Days 2-4-6-11 is water only (1 gallon per bale) and of course the 1 gallon of water on the days you fertilize also"

 

 

This is the 12 bales that we picked up from Carl. Poor Brent really had a bad allergic reaction from the straw! This better work! Needs more work, but the rain has moved in.

This is our garlic that Brent planted last fall. Looking good!
